Project Type: Academic

Year: 2016
After completing a composition and volumetric activity analyzing the “full and empty” in terms of mass, we had to choose one of our volumes that interested us the most to create a bigger volume from cardboards. The volume I decided to work involved “intersection and simple subtraction”, it had a different volume which I could explore the spaces and exemplify the Gestalt principles.
In this project, the analysis of the model involved the aspects of ergonomics, proportions, perspectives, and especially the focus on the perception of space and light. For that, we had to add human scale and objects, and make small openings in the most interesting perspectives of the spaces at the human scale eye level.
For the final presentation, we delivered the model so that the students and professors could experience it, along with photos analyzing the influence of natural and artificial light, and also a photomontage in Photoshop representing the project as if it were a real space. My model was chosen as the most interesting because I also explored the perception of textures and patterns through the light.
The materials I used were cardboard, crepe paper, balsa wood sheets, translucent paper, and to bring nature and different patterns and experiences, I also decided to use sticks and leaves.
